Abstract

The background of the study in this research is based on the phenomena that students find some difficulties in writing of English text, especially when they make a text. They cannot arrange recount text well. Their writing is not coherent between sentence one and the other sentences.
The problems of this research can be stated as follows:
1. How is the implementation of mind mapping technique in teaching writing to improve students’ writing of recount text at VIII A class of MTS NU 08 Gemuh Kendal?
2. Can mind mapping technique improve students’ writing of recount text at VIII A class of MTS NU 08 Gemuh Kendal?
3. How is the improvement of students’ achievement in writing after taught by using mind mapping technique at VIII A class of MTs NU 08 Gemuh Kendal?
Its purposes are:
1. To describe the implementation of mind mapping technique in teaching writing to improve students’s comprehension of recount text at VIII A Class of MTs NU 08 Gemuh Kendal
2. To identify whether mind mapping technique can improve students’ writing of recount text at VIII A class of MTs NU 08 Gemuh Kendal
3. To describe the improvement of students’ achievement in writing after taught by using mind mapping technique at the VIII A class of MTs NU 08 Gemuh Kendal

The implementation of Mind Mapping technique in teaching writing at MTs NU 08 Gemuh Kendal is Classroom Action Research which is aimed to improve students’ achievement in writing. This research was conducted in three cycles and was done in five activities including the pre cycle and the post cycle.
The result of study shows that using Mind Mapping technique can improve students’ achievement in writing. This is proved by students’ written test that improved in every cycle. In this research, the researcher took a test of their achievements in each cycle. In the first cycle, the average of the students’ achievement was 68.8. In the second cycle the students got 72. 8 and in the third cycle the students got 76. 5.
Result of the research shows that the students improve their writing effectively by using Mind mapping Technique.
