Abstract

Mass media as an institution that live in the community itself is also bound by ethical values that developed in the community. Ethical values in society by itself bind itself in doing the preaching activities, as a form of interaction with the community itself. Mass media to portray its functions optimally requires freedom. It must be given the freedom of the press and freedom in finding and releasing information to the public. However, the press is not necessarily free as free, but bound by professional ethics that surrounded it, the ethics of journalism. Ethics is structured as an ideal goal once set and directing journalists in carrying out their activities. This journalistic ethics becomes the moral and ethical standards for journalists and press practitioners to be aware of and adhered. Islamic ethic include all of aspect in life, because of it Islamic ethic can be applied in context of mass communications ethic. Look at some studies and problem or critic about news of politic in mass media, so it’s so important to study about political news in the perspective of Islamic Mass Communications Ethic.
Aim of this research is to know as far Islamic Mass Communcation Ethic are used in pre-election news in mass media, especially Jawa Pos because Jawa Pos has a market ideology.
Method that used in this research is descriptive-analyzes it is describe and analyze of pre-election news in Jawa Pos on June-July 2014 edition with Islamic Mass Communication’s Ethic. This steps are process of data with describe to get definition completely, so get clear understanding. Then, analyze of data use overview of Islamic Mass Communication’s Ethic.
Data was found are pre-election news in mass media Jawa Pos June-July 2014 edition contain about Prabowo-Hatta 1, Jokowi-JK 5, both 24, and other news 8.
After study about this data, author can conclude that truth information in pre-election news in Jawa Pos June-July 2014 edition is good. From 38 of news, 35 of news through confirmation from news source. Furthermore 3 of news not yet confirm over news source. About justice in Jawa Pos was almost fulfilling the elements of justice. In freedom-responsibility’s element is also positive. And, in the construction criticism’s element is still need to improve because from 38 new, only 7 news that contain about constructive criticism.
