Abstract

This research was conducted based on the reason that Education is a conscious effort to prepare the students through guidance, teaching and or exercise for its role in the future. In general, education can be interpreted as a process of the assistance provided by adults to children who have not yet adults to achieve maturity. This research is intended to answer the problems : (1) Is there the effect of the learning guidance to students’ achievements in English lesson at class VIII in MTs Ribatul Muta'alimin Pekalongan in academic year of 2015/2016? (2) How is the learning guidance done to the students at class VIII in MTs Ribatul Muta'alimin Pekalongan in academic year of 2015/2016? (3) How is achievements of students who got learning guidance in academic year of 2015/2016 and who didn’t get it in academic year of 2014/2015 in English lesson at class VIII in MTs Ribatul Muta'alimin Pekalongan?.
The type of this research is ex post facto where the researcher did not intervene the independent variables. This research used survey methods with technique of comparison between two group of students’ achievements that was in accordance with the topic of research that was examined and taken conclusion. Research subject were 73 respondents divided into two groups. The first group was class VIII in academic year of 2015/2016 as ex post facto class with 38 respondents and the second group was class VIII in academic year of 2014/2015 as control classes / class comparison with 37 respondents. The techniques collection of data were the interview, observation and documentation. The research data collected were analyzed by using descriptive statistics analysis techniques. In the hypothesis test, he used analysis T-test.
The results shows that : (1) The percentage of learning guidance that was done by English teacher in class VIII year 2015/2016 was 100% meant that it was located on A qualification or predicated Very Good. This was caused by the English teachers did it maximally (2) The students’ achievement (its averege was 63,34) on class VIII who got learning guidance in academic year of 2015/2016 was better than the students’ achievement (its averege was 56,16) who did not get it in academic year of 2014/2015 in the English lessons. (3) Learning guidance affected significantly the students’ achievement in the English lessons. So that the students’ achievement on class VIII in academic year of 2015/2016 was better than the students’ achievement on class VIII in academic year of 2014/2015. Where the value to (2,955) was greater than t that was on the table with df = 73 both of equal of significant 1 % (2,379) and equal of significant 5 % (1,666) .
