Abstract

This thesis discusses about The Effectiveness of Crazy Professor Reading Game to Teach Reading (An Experimental Study at Eight Grade Student of Mts Miftahul Huda Raguklampitan Batealit Jepara In Academic Year of 2016/2017).
The objectives of this study is to find out the effectiveness of CPR game to teach reading in eight grade students of MTs Miftahul Huda Raguklampitan Batealit Jepara in Academic Year 2016/2017.
This study employed the experimental design. The eight grade students of MTs Miftahul Huda was selected as the research source of data. The classes were divided into experimental group and control group. Class VIII A is as experimental group and class VIII B is as control group. The researcher used simple random sampling because the population was homogenous and each group has the equal chance to be chosen as the sample. The technique of collect the data were observation, test, and documentation.
Hypothesis showed that using CPR game as learning method was effective to teach reading. In accordance with the data analysis, the result showed the average of pre-test score for the experimental class was 54.83 and 77.16 for the post-test score. While, the average of pre-test score for control class was 56.16 and 73.16 for the post-test score. The result of post-test score of experimental class was 77.16 which higher than control class was 73.16. It means that teaching reading by using CPR game is better than teaching reading without using CPR game.
The result of the calculation using ANOVA showed that there are differences of students’ reading achievement before and after being taught by using CPR game in teaching reading for eight grade students of MTs Miftahul Huda Raguklampitan, Batealit, Jepara, pre-test score of experimental group is equal to pre test score of control group, post test score of experimental group is higher than pre test score of it, and post test score of experimental group is higher than post test score of control group. The hypothesis is accepted.
Finally the researcher suggests that for English teacher, they have to be creative to attract students’ interest in teaching reading, one of them use CPR game, so that the students have joyful atmosphere and feasible activity.
