Abstract

Teaching writing has its own challenges since there are some steps and requirements that teachers should prepare to undertake in the classroom. In addition, curriculum of teaching writing will be another important factor to consider as well as research and practice in teaching writing. Several problems also occur when the teachers have big classes to teach and the result of teaching writing to the students may be defeated. In this case, time also being a big challenge for the teachers to have the students’ writing improve because to accomplish a good composition in English, it needs complex steps such as brainstorming, prewriting, drafting, and editing. However, new techniques in teaching writing are needed to develop the students’ writing outcomes. The objective of the research is to describe the aplication of give one get one technique in teaching writing of recount text. The aim of this research is to identify whether teaching writing recount text by using Give One-Get One technique is effective or not in teaching learning process of the eighth grade students of MTs Al-Hadi Mranggen in academic year of 2019/2020. The sample of this study is the eighth grade of MTs Al-Hadi Mranggen. Student of VIII A as an experimental class whereas student of VIII B as the control class. Each class consist 30 students. This research is a quantitative research and an experimental design. The data was obtained by giving a test. The instrument used written pre-test and post-test. The result of the research shows that there are can be seen in the average score of the experimental group is better than the control group. It showed that the pre-test average score of the experimental group was 61.03 and the control group was 57.23. After the treatment, the result of the post-test of the experimental group was 68.30 which was higher than the control group was 61.00. Based on the calculation of the data the mean score of the experimental class is increased.
