Abstract

ABSTRACT

The desire to be accepted in the social environment in society is a necessity for every individual. The acceptance response from each environment is a part of social relations where it gives rise to a positive and negative reaction caused by the inconsistency between the environment and the individual's social needs. Individuals who are socially accepted are individuals who have harmony between social and environmental needs. This has resulted in many LGBT people experiencing rejection sensitivity and low self-acceptance to LGBT. This study aims to empirically examine correlation between rejection sensitivity and self-acceptance in the LGBT community using a correlational quantitative approach. The population in this study were 30 members of the LGBT community in the Semarang City taken with the saturated sample technique. The hypothesis proposed by the researcher is that there is a correlation between rejection sensitivity and self-acceptance in the LGBT community in Semarang City. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant negative relationship between rejection sensitivity and self-acceptance in the LGBT community in Semarang City. The hypothesis is carried out using the Pearson Product Moment correlation, the correlation coefficient value is 0.713 with a strong correlation category and sig value. (2-tailed) between sensitivity to rejection and self-acceptance is 0.000. The correlation proved significant if p < 0.01. The significance value (P-value) of the results of this research hypothesis testing is 0.000 which means less than 0.01 (0.000 < 0.01) so that the correlation of the two variables is declared significant.
