Abstract

Spektrum antara globalisasi dan budaya kian berkembang menggiring nalar maupun opini dalam segala lingkup kehidupan masyarakat. Salah satu budaya yang tumbuh beriringan dengan berkembangnya globalisasi adalah budaya pop. Melalui media massa sebagai representasi budaya pop, kemudian memunculkan tren ritual pra-perkawinan sebagai pergulatan identitas masyarakat. Diskursus mengenai ritual pra-perkawinan ini, fokus kajiannya adalah bagaimana corak budaya pop dalam ritual pra-perkawinan, sekaligus bagaimana etika konsumsi, serta perspektif etika Islam.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan atau field research dan bersifat kualitatif. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan normatif, dan psikologis. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu pelaku (engagement), pihak EO (event organizer), pelaku (bridal shower), pelaku (sebagai bridesmaids) dan beberapa sumber data lainnya.
Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini adalah ritual pra-perkawinan merupakan produk dari budaya pop sebagai tren terkini. Secara konsensus berkaitan dengan representasi eksistensi diri, memiliki relasi dengan media sosial, dan keuntungan dari pihak industri event organizer. Selain itu, sebagai ritual eksistensi yang terbilang mahal, hedonis, dan berlebihan, maka ritual tersebut masuk dalam kategori tabżīr dan isrāf, sekaligus berdampak pada degradasi nilai kebajikan dan keadilan dalam etika Islam.

ABSTRACT:
The growing spectrum between globalization and culture leads to reason and opinion in all spheres of public life. Pop culture is one of the cultures that grow in tandem with the development of globalization. Through mass media as a representation of pop culture, the trend of pre-wedding rituals emerged as a struggle for community identity. In this discourse on pre-wedding rituals, this research topic was related to how pop culture, consumption ethics, and Islamic ethical perspectives were used in pre-wedding rituals.
This research is qualitative field research designs uses normative, and psychological approaches. The sources of data in this research are engagement actors, EO (event organizer), bridal showers actors, bridesmaids actors, and several other data sources.
The research results showed that the pre-wedding rituals were the products of pop culture as the latest trend. By consensus, this ritual was related to the representation of self-existence, social media, and benefits from the event organizer industry. In addition, as expensive, hedonistic, and excessive rituals, these rituals were included in the tabżīr and isrâf categories. They impacted the degradation of the virtue and justice values in Islamic ethics.
