Abstract

ABSTRACT:
Background : Hydration status is the balance of fluids that enter and exit the body. The balance between fluids and electrolytes in the body is regulated by potassium. Sufficient fluid intake is needed by the body to maintain a normal hydration status. One way to assess hydration status is to look at the color of the urine that is released.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between potassium intake, fluid intake, and nutritional status with hydration status.
Methods : Cross-sectional research design, with 74 female respondents using stratified random sampling technique with the slovin formula. The instruments used are the Self-Check Urine Card (PURI) for hydration status, 3x24 hours food recall for potassium intake and fluid intake, as well as weight scales and microtoice for nutritional status.
Results: There was a relationship between potassium intake and hydration status p=0,000 (p<0,05), there was a relationship between fluid intake and hydration status p=0,000 (p<0,05) and there was a relationship between nutritional status and hydration status p=0.035 (p<0,05). Fluid intake is the most influential factor with hydration status in this study, which is 29,34 times.
Conclusion : There is a relationship between potassium intake and hydration status, fluid intake with hydration status, nutritional status with hydration status, and fluid intake is the most influential factor on hydration status.
