Abstract

ABSTRACT:
The transition from civilian life to a military environment experienced by cadets at the Police Academy can become a source of pressure. There are demands for training, nurturing and teaching that can have an impact on their physical and psychological condition. This study aims to empirically examine the influence of internal locus of control and social support on stress among Police Academy cadets II. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causality design. A sample of 211 cadets II was selected through stratified random sampling techniques. Measurement tools used include the stress scale, internal locus of control scale, and social support scale. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques with SPSS 26 for Windows. Partially, internal locus of control accounted for 4.5% of the variance in stress, while social support accounted for 89.5%. The results indicate a significant influence of internal locus of control and social support on stress among Police Academy cadets II, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The conclusion of the study is that the locus of internal control and social support together can affect stress by 91.7%. Based on the results of the study, if cadets have a high internal locus of control and social support, then stress in cadets is low. However, if the internal locus of control and social support in cadets is low, stress will be high.
