This thesis is entitled “The Meaning of Tabarruj In Q.S. al-Aḥzāb [33]:33 According to Students of Tasawuf and Psychotherapy Majors UIN Walisongo Semarang”. The focus of this research is to examine the behavior of tabarruj, which refers to the behavior of showing excessive jewelry and beauty. The purpose of this study is to find out the views of female students majoring in Tasawuf and Psychotherapy at UIN Walisongo Semarang regarding tabarruj in Q.S. al-Aḥzāb [33]:33. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis. Data collection was carried out by means of observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with respondents selected by purposive sampling. This interview aims to explore their understanding and attitude towards tabarruj and solutions that can be done to avoid tabarruj behavior. The results showed that there are various views among female students regarding tabarruj. Some respondents emphasized the importance of politeness and simplicity, while others argued that the use of makeup and jewelry is acceptable as long as it is not excessive and does not aim to attract male attention. Respondents also highlighted the importance of being tolerant and non-judgmental of individual dress choices, as well as the need to build collective awareness regarding dress codes that are in line with Islamic values. This study concludes that the understanding of tabarruj is strongly influenced by social and cultural contexts.
