This study explores teachers’ and students’ perceptions of the use of movie sessions to support intercultural competence (ICC) in English learning at SMP Nurul Islami Semarang, particularly within the NECC extracurricular program. As English serves as a global lingua franca, language learning today requires both linguistic proficiency and intercultural understanding. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through teacher interviews, classroom observations, and student questionnaires. The findings show that teachers perceive movies as effective tools to introduce cultural content and design reflective learning activities. Through pre-watching, while-watching, and post-watching stages, teachers guide students in discussing and interpreting cultural elements. Students responded positively, showing increased interest, engagement, and awareness of cultural diversity. Movie sessions were found to support the development of students’ intercultural attitudes, knowledge, and skills. They also developed attitudes of openness and empathy, indicating growth in their intercultural competence. This study contribute to the theoretical and practical use of audiovisual media in promoting intercultural learning in EFL contexts.
