Abstract
The current development in English language education involves a flipped learning approach, allowing students to participate in their own education and enhancing their learning experience. This research aims to explore and analyze the effect of the implementation of the flipped classroom learning model on the level of student engagement in the learning process at MTsN 2 Kota Semarang, as well as knowing the improvement of students' digital literacy after the implementation of the flipped classroom learning model. The type of research used in this study is a quasi-experiment. The research design used in this research is pretest posttest control group design. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling with a sample of class VIII A students as the experimental class and students of class VIII B as the control class. The instrument used in this study were pretest - posttest questionnaire student engagement and digital literacy observation sheet student observation sheet, interviews and documentation. The hypothesis testing using Ancova. Based on the research results, it shows that there is a difference in student engagement in the application of the flipped classroom learning model as seen from the significance value of 0.000. significance value is 0.000. The significance value of 0.000 <0.05 thus Ha is accepted. This shows that the flipped classroom learning model has an effect on self confidence in students. Then, there is a difference in improving digital literacy on the application of the Flipped Classroom learning model which is seen from the the significance value is 0.000. The significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, thus Ha is accepted. This shows that Flipped classroom learning model affects student engagement and improving digital literacy.
