Abstract

Jam bencet biasa digunakan sebagai acuan dalam penentuan waktu terutama waktu kulminasi Matahari dan kaitannya dengan waktu salat Zuhur. Penggunaan jam bencet masih menimbulkan permasalahan terkait penentuan waktu kalibrasinya. Jam bencet tidak dapat digunakan saat cuaca mendung, namun belum ada yang mengkaji tentang alternatif kalibrasi jam bencet sebagai antisipasi saat cuaca mendung agar tetap menghasilkan waktu yang akurat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjawab pertanyaan: 1. Bagaimana cara kalibrasi jam bencet pondok pesantren dan masjid di Jawa Timur untuk menghasilkan waktu yang akurat? 2. Bagaimana cara membuat program untuk kalibrasi jam bencet pondok pesantren dan masjid di Jawa Timur? Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian lapangan dengan data kualitatif. Pengumpulan datanya melalui dokumentasi dan wawancara. Semua data dianalisis secara deskriptif komparatif melalui pendekatan aritmetik dan astrometrik.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1. Pelaksanaan kalibrasi jam bencet harus memperhatikan koordinat lokasi observasi, jenis bencet, dan data validasi yang meliputi penentuan arah geografis, koreksi waktu daerah, dan akurasi jam. 2. Algoritma pemrograman excel untuk menghasilkan alternatif kalibrasi jam bencet dilakukan dengan menentukan koordinat tempat dan time zone, bulan dan tahun yang dikehendaki, waktu istiwa yang akan digunakan untuk melakukan kalibrasi, memasukkan rumus menghitung data Matahari, rumus konversi waktu, dan mencari selisih waktu hakiki dan waktu daerah. Algoritma itu menghasilakn tabel yang dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif kalibrasi jam bencet pada saat langit gelap dan dapat digunakan sepanjang masa karena data equation of time yang berganti secara teratur dan hanya menghasilkan perbedaan 0,06 detik setiap tahun.

ABSTRACT:
Sundial is used as a reference in determining the time, especially the culmination of the Sun and the time of noon prayer. The sundial using as a timepiece still raises problems related to the calibration time. Sundial cannot be used during cloudy weather, but no one has reviewed the calibration alternatives in anticipation of cloudy weather so that it still indicates an accurate time. This research is intended to answer the questions: 1. How does the sundial using at islamic boarding school and mosque in East Java to indicate an accurate time? 2. How does to make a program for calibration sundial at islamic boarding school and mosque in East Java? This research is included in field research with qualitative data. The data collections through documentation and interviews. All data were analyzed by comparative descriptive analysis through arithmetic and astrometric approaches.
The results of this study indicate that: 1. Calibration of the sundial to get accurate time results, in its use must be attention to things including the coordinates of the observation location, the type of sundial used, and validation data which includes determining the geographical direction, correcting the time of the area, and accuracy of the clock. 2. Excel programming algorithm using the time conversion formula to produce an alternative clock calibration, calibration done by the steps of determining the coordinates of the place and time zone, month and year, the specific time to be used to perform calibrate, enter the formula to calculate the Sun’s data, the formula for converting time, and find the difference between real time and regional time. Through this algorithm will produce a table that can be used as an alternative to calibration of the sundial when the sky in dark and can be used for all the time because the equation of time data changes regularly and only indicates a difference of 0.06 second each year.
