Abstract
Penulisan disertasi ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: a) bagaimana PMDG membangun konsep wakaf dan pengelolaannya serta mempraktikannya dalam konteks pendidikan; b) bentuk kemandirian pendidikan PMDG dan independensinya terhadap lembaga lain; c) sejauh mana dukungan sumbangan pengelolaan wakaf PMDG dalam memandirikan pendidikan.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan field research, fenomenologi dan manajemen. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik snow balling melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data yang diperoleh selanjutnya dianalisis secara deskrهptif analitis baik di lapangan maupun setelah meninggalkan lapangan penelitian.
Temuan dalam disertasi ini memperlihatkan bahwa makna wakaf menurut PMDG tidak berhenti sebagai h}abs al-as}l wa tasbi>l al-s|amrah (menahan harta pokok dan mendistribusikan hasilnya) yang lebih berkonotasi materiil, tetapi lebih jauh sebagai proses regenerasi kepemimpinan pondok dan sarana menjamin keberlangsungan tradisi, nilai-nilai dan kemandirian pendidikan. Pengelolaan pondok termasuk wakaf di dalamnya, dikemas dalam bentuk pendidikan terhadap santri, guru, para pimpinan dan seluruh penghuni Pondok. Berkenaan dengan kemandirian pendidikan, PMDG memaknainya sebagai kemampuan dan sikap mental untuk menyelenggarakan pendidikan tanpa bergantung pada bantuan orang lain. Kemandirian ini merefleksikan idealisme, yang mengambil bentuk kemandirian lembaga dan organisasi, sistem pendidikan, kuriulum, pendanaan dan sumberdaya manusia (penghuni pondok). Pengelolaan wakaf di PMDG berperan besar dalam mewujudkan kemandirian pendidikannya. Secara materiil, wakaf membantu pondok untuk mencukupi kebutuhan-kebutuhannya, dan secara non materiil turut menata sistem dan pengelolaan pondok.
Temuan penelitian ini memperkuat berbagai temuan penelitian-penelitian terdahulu tentang potensi besar wakaf dalam mewujudkan kesejahteraan sosial jika dapat dikelola secara otonom dan self-fulfilling. Di sisi lain, penelitian ini membantah keharusan profesionalisme pengelolaan wakaf terutama berkenaan dengan aspek kesejahteraan nazir sebagaimana diteorikan oleh Syafi’i Antonio. Dalam konteks PMDG, produktivitas pengelolaan wakaf tidak ditentukan oleh besarnya penghargaan materiil tetapi oleh kesetiaan terhadap nilai-nilai pondok yang dipahami bersama secara baik. Pengurus YPPWPM dan para pengelola unit-unit usaha wakaf (kopontren) adalah para guru dengan tugas tambahan, yang diberikan kesejahteraan berdasar status keguruannya dan bukan sebagai nadzir wakaf.
ABSTRACT
The aims of writing this dissertation were: a) to decribe the ways PMDG establishes the concept of waqf dan its management as well its implementation through educational context; b) to describe the form of PMDG independence in education dan its independence towards the other institutions; and c) to describe the contributions of the donations from Waqf management at PMDG for making the education self-sufficient.
This research was qualitative research using field research approach, fenomenology, and management. In collecting the data, snow balling technique through interview, observation, and documentation were applied. The data gained then were analyzed by using descriptive analysis.
The findings of this dissertation showed that definition of Waqf according to PMDG did not stop as habs al-asl wa tasbil al-samrah (holding on principle assets and distributing its result) which was connoted more on material aspect, but so far as the regeneration of the leadership and ensured the continuity of tradition, values, and independence of education. Management of pesantren (boarding school) including Waqf, packed in the form of education to the students, teachers, leaders, and all the inhabitants of PMDG. Related to the independence of education, PMDG interpreted it as the ability and mental attitude in implementing education without relying on the other helps. This independence reflected idealism, which took form of the independence of institution and organization, the educational system, curriculum, finance, and human resources. Waqf management of PMDG has an important role in realizing self-reliance education. Materially, Waqf helped this boarding school to meet his needs, non materially, it helped PMDG in the system management and organization.
Furthermore, the findings on one hand supported the previous studies on the potential of waqf for social welfare, if it could be managed in an outonomous and self-fulfilling organization. On the other hand, however, it denied the necessity of professionalism in waqf management especially in nadzir welfare aspects, as theorized by Syafi’i Antonio. In the context of PMDG, the productivity of waqf management was not determined by the number of material rewards but by the faithfulness to the boarding values which were well understood. The board of YPPWPM as the Waqf and its asset management consisted of teachers with additional duties, who get welfare from their teacher status, not as waqf nadzir.
