Abstract
ABSTRACT:
Islamic banks are banks based on sharia principles. However, the existence of sharia elements are not a benchmark that Islamic banks are free from fraud. This is evidenced by the spread of fraud cases in Islamic banks during the period 2015 to 2019. Therefore, guidelines are needed to minimize the occurrence of fraud in Islamic banks. One way that might be used is the disclosure of sharia compliance and the application of Islamic Corporate Governance. This research was aimed to examine and analyze the effect of the disclosure of sharia compliance and Islamic corporate governance on fraud in Islamic Banks. This research used quantitative methods with secondary data types. The data were taken from the annual report and the Good Corporate Governance report published by each bank. The population in this research were all Islamic commercial banks that have been registered by BI or OJK in the period 2015 to 2019. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling method. The number of selected samples was 10 Islamic banks with a research period of 5 years. Furthermore, the data were tested using quantitative methods with multiple linear regression analysis techniques and processed with the support of the IBM SPSS 25 program. The results of this research showed that the disclosure of sharia compliance has a positive and significant effect on fraud, while Islamic corporate governance has no significant effect on fraud. Disclosure of sharia compliance and Islamic Corporate Governance simultaneously has a significant effect on fraud.
