Abstract

ABSTRACT:
The Islamic consumption theory has the most basic goal of an economy, namely to take blessings and benefits for itself and to worship Allah. This study aims to find out how the implementation of Islamic consumption theory among students of the 2019 class of Islamic Economics and Business Faculty of UIN Walisongo users of the Shopee PayLater and GoPay Later systems. This research is a field research (field research) using the snowball sampling technique which obtained 5 students using Shopee PayLater and 5 students using GoPay Later. The analysis was carried out using descriptive qualitative. The results of the study show that the ease of carrying out paylater transaction procedures encourages students to use paylater payment transactions continuously. A significant comparison between Shopee PayLater and GoPay Later can be seen in terms of interest. Interest contained in Shopee PayLater is not in accordance with the principles of Islamic consumption theory put forward by Al Ghazali. The fulfillment of dharuriyat needs by students is not sufficient in accordance with the 4 requirements for dharuriyat needs put forward by al-Ghazali but in fulfilling the needs of hajiyat it is in accordance with Islamic consumption theory because students fulfill their needs physically and spiritually and have a generous attitude so they don't waste. Whereas in fulfilling the needs of tahsiniyat it tends to be higher than the needs of hajiyyat let alone the needs of dharuriyat. So this shows that fulfilling the needs of tahsiniyat leads to an israf or tabzir attitude.
