Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi tentang pentingnya arah kiblat yang tepat bagi tempat-tempat yang jauh dari Makkah seperti di Indonesia. Dengan mengetahui arah kiblat yang tepat dapat menambah keyakinan dalam beribadah khususnya salat. Masjid At-Taqwa Lama Jampue sebagai salah satu masjid tertua yang ada di Sulawesi Selatan belum pernah ada pihak yang melakukan pengecekan arah kiblat dari masjid tersebut sehingga dapat dirumuskan dalam penelitian ini bahwa bagaimana metode yang digunakan dalam menentukan arah kiblat pada masjid At-Taqwa Lama Jampue dan bagaimana akurasi arah kiblat Masjid At-taqwa Lama jampue. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisi metode penentuan dan akurasi arah kiblat dari Masjid At-Taqwa Lama Jampue.
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode Field research. Data dikumupulkan dengan metode observasi untuk mengetahui kondisi arah kiblat, verifikasi untuk uji akurasi arah kiblat dan wawancara untul mengetahui sejarah dan metode penentuan arah kiblat. kemudian dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif analitik.
Hasil penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa arah kiblat Masjid At-Taqwa Lama Jampue mengalami kemelencengan sebesar 12o 18’ 11,52’’ hasil dari selisih antara arah bangunan masjid 280o dan azimut kiblat 292o 18’ 11,52’’. Adapun metode penentuan arah kiblat yang digunakan pada saat masjid At-Taqwa Lama dibangun adalah menggunakan posisi matahari terbenam.

ABSTRACT:
This research is motivated by the importance of the correct Qibla direction for places far from Mecca, such as in Indonesia. Knowing the exact Qibla direction can increase confidence in worship, especially prayer. The At-Taqwa Lama Jampue Mosque as one of the oldest mosques in South Sulawesi has never had a party check the Qibla direction of the mosque so it can be formulated in this study that what method is used to determine the Qibla direction at the At-Taqwa Lama Jampue mosque and how accurate is the direction of Qibla at the Jampue At-taqwa Lama Mosque. The purpose of this research is to analyze the paid method and the accuracy of Qibla direction from the At-Taqwa Lama Jampue Mosque.
This research used a qualitative approach with the Field research method. Data was collected using the observation method to determine the condition of the Qibla direction, verification to test the accuracy of the Qibla direction and interviews to find out the history and methods of deceiving the Qibla direction. then analyzed by analytic descriptive method.
The results of this study indicate that the Qibla direction of the At-Taqwa Lama Jampue Mosque is deviated by 12o 18' 11.52'' the result of the difference between the direction of the mosque building is 280o and the Qibla azimuth is 292o18' 11.52''. The method of paying the qibla that was used when the At-Taqwa Lama mosque was built was using the sunset position.
