Penelitian ini didasari oleh pengamatan penulis terhadap peningkatan jumlah istri bekerja di Jawa Tengah sebanyak 8.130.628 (status bekerja: 7.699.011 dan status pengangguran: 431.617) artinya lebih banyak istri bekerja daripada yang menganggur. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor beserta alasan yang memengaruhi motivasi kerja istri (Z) meliputi: usia istri (X1), tingkat pendidikan istri (X2), religiusitas istri (X3), penghasilan suami (X4), dan bagaimana implikasinya terhadap kesejahteraan rumah tangga (Y).
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian mixed methode dengan model sequential explanatory. Metode kuantitatif menggunakan analisis SEM dengan teori psychological well-being. Metode kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan studi lapangan dengan analisis teori symbolic interactionism, kemudian dianalisis dari perspektif BKKBN di Indonesia dan juga perspektif maqashid syariah. Sampel kuantitatif 268 responden dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner dan sampel kualitatif 10 informan dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara yang diuji keabsahannya dengan triangulasi sumber.
Hasil kuantitatif: (X1) tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap (Y) melalui (Z) sebagai variabel intervening; sedangkan (X2) dan (X3) berpengaruh signifikan. Variabel (Z) berhasil memoderasi (X4) terhadap (Y) ditunjukkan dengan nilai C.R meningkat setelah ada variabel moderating. Hasil kualitatif: faktor yang memengaruhi motivasi kerja istri yaitu: religiusitas istri dan aktualisasi diri istri. Latar belakang alasan istri bekerja meliputi: membantu perekonomian rumah tangga, memberi sedekah, menyebarkan ilmu, menyalurkan hobi, mengisi waktu luang, dan mengaplikasikan pendidikan. Meskipun faktor dan alasan motivasi kerja istri setiap informan berbeda-beda, namun implikasinya dapat berkontribusi pada kesejahteraan rumah tangganya. Sehingga, berdasarkan temuan riset maka, dapat disimpulkan model dari kesejahteraan rumah tangga islami pada rumah tangga dengan kondisi istri bekerja.

ABSTRACT:
This research is based on the author's observations of the increase in the number of working wives in Central Java by 8,130,628 (employed status: 7,699,011 and unemployed status: 431,617), meaning that there are more working wives than unemployed. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors and reasons that influence the wife's work motivation (Z), including: the wife's age (X1), the wife's education level (X2), the wife's religiosity (X3), the husband's income (X4), and what the implications are. on household welfare (Y).
This research is a mixed method research with a sequential explanatory model. The quantitative method uses SEM analysis with psychological well-being theory. The qualitative method uses a field study approach with symbolic interactionism theory analysis, then analyzed from the perspective of the BKKBN in Indonesia and also the perspective of maqashid sharia. A quantitative sample of 268 respondents with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires and a qualitative sample of 10 informants with data collection techniques through interviews whose validity was tested using source triangulation.
Quantitative results: (X1) has no significant effect on (Y) through (Z) as an intervening variable; while (X2) and (X3) have a significant effect. The variable (Z) succeeded in moderating (X4) towards (Y) as indicated by the C.R value increasing after the moderating variable was present. Qualitative results: factors that influence wives' work motivation are: wives' religiosity and wives' self-actualization. The background reasons why wives work include: helping with the household economy, giving alms, spreading knowledge, pursuing hobbies, filling free time, and applying education. Although the factors and reasons for each informant's wife's work motivation are different, the implications can contribute to the welfare of their household. So, based on research findings, we can conclude a model of Islamic household welfare in households where the wife works.
