Sebagai sebuah kitab tafsir, penafsiran berdasar susunan nuzul atau diistilahkan dengan “tafsir nuzuli” memiliki karakteristiknya sendiri. Sebab, ragam metodologi, pijakan tartib nuzul hingga bersinggungan dengan konsepsi Makkiyah Madaniyah serta kajian Tārīkh al-Qur’ān di dalamnya tampak berbeda dengan sejumlah kitab tafsir konvensional pada umumnya. Studi ini dimaksudkan untuk menjawab pertanyaan: (1) Bagaimanakah kitab-kitab tafsir nuzuli dalam tinjauan ragam metodologi tafsir?. (2) Bagaimana dan apa saja tipologi yang ditemukan di dalam kitab-kitab tafsir nuzuli?. Persoalan ini dikaji melalui studi kepustakaan dengan menjadikan kitab-kitab tafsir nuzuli sebagai sumber data utama kajian. Semua data dianalisis melalui metode dokumentasi serta pendekatan filosofis, interdisipliner dan multidisipliner.
Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Peninjauan metodologi tafsir terhadap kitab-kitab tafsir nuzuli dapat dilakukan sebagaimana peninjauan terhadap kitab-kitab tafsir lainnya. (2) Tipologi yang dihasilkan dari kitab-kitab tafsir nuzuli berangkat dari peninjauan beberapa metodologi tafsir yang dirasa kurang cukup untuk melihat tafsir berdasar susunan nuzul wahyu ini. Karenanya, diperlukan dua aspek utama yang dapat dipertimbangkan. Pertama, tipologi tafsir nuzuli berdasar aspek internal tartib nuzul yang melahirkan dua jenis: a). Tafsir nuzuli berdasar ukuran pijakan tartib nuzul dan independensi mufasir; b). Tafsir nuzuli berdasar klasifikasi tartib nuzul. Kedua, tipologi tafsir nuzuli berdasar aspek eksternal tartib nuzul yang melahirkan dua jenis juga: a). Tafsir nuzuli berdasar kedudukan tartib nuzul; b). Tafsir nuzuli berdasar tujuan penggunaan tartib nuzul.

ABSTRACT:
As a book of tafsir, tafsir based on the nuzul structure or what is known as “Tafsir Nuzuli” has its own characteristics. This is because the variety of methodologies, the basis of the Tarib Nuzul and its contact with the Makkiyah Madaniyah conception and the study of the Tārīkh al-Qur'ān in it appear different from a number of conventional tafsir books in general. This study is intended to answer the questions: (1) How do the Tafsir Nuzuli books look like in a review of various tafsir methodologies?. (2) How and what typologies are found in the Tafsir Nuzuli books?. This issue is studied through literature study by using Tafsir Nuzuli books as the main data source for the study. All data is analyzed through documentation methods and philosophical, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.
This research shows that: (1) A review of the tafsir methodology for Tafsir Nuzuli books can be carried out like a review of other tafsir books. (2) The typology produced from Tafsir Nuzuli books departs from a review of tafsir methodology which is deemed insufficient to see interpretations based on the structure of the nuzul revelation. Therefore, two main aspects need to be considered. First, the typology of Tafsir Nuzuli is based on the internal aspect of tartib nuzul which gives rise to two types: a). The Tafsir Nuzuli is based on the size of the tartib nuzul and the independence of the interpreter; b). The Tafsir Nuzuli is based on the classification of tartib nuzul. Second, the typology of Tafsir Nuzuli is based on the external aspect of tartib nuzul which also gives rise to two types: a). The Tafsir Nuzuli is based on the position of tartib nuzul; b). The Tafsir Nuzuli is based on the purpose of using tartib nuzul.
