Abstract

Grammar mastery is an important component of English language learning, especially in the context of EFL (English as a Foreign Language). The degree of comparison is one aspect of grammar that is often challenging for students. With the advancement of technology, learning apps such as Wordwall offer an interactive approach that can increase student motivation and comprehension. This study aims to explore EFL students' perceptions towards using Wordwall app in improving grammar skills, specifically in learning degrees of comparison. Using a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative research, the participants consisted of 32 students of class IX-F at SMPN 18 Semarang. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and tests to gain an in-depth understanding of students' experiences in using the Wordwall app. The results showed that most students had a positive view of Wordwall as an interactive and engaging learning tool. Students reported increased confidence in applying degrees of comparison in real-life contexts, as well as improved understanding and retention of grammar concepts. However, students also faced some challenges, including unstable internet connections, limited time to answer questions, and a sometimes confusing interface. This study concludes that Wordwall is an effective tool for grammar learning, especially in mastering degrees of comparison, and recommends the integration of this app with other teaching methods to maximize learning potential.
