Abstract
This study investigates the influence of Kahoot on student engagement in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning and explores students’ perceptions of the platform. Specifically, it examines how Kahoot affects behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects of engagement. Using a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The findings show that Kahoot enhances student engagement. Behaviorally, it promotes active participation and focus. Emotionally, it fosters enthusiasm and enjoyment. Cognitively, it encourages critical thinking and reflection. In addition, students expressed positive perceptions toward Kahoot, describing it as fun, motivating, and helpful in understanding the material. However, some students reported challenges such as time pressure and unstable internet access. Overall, Kahoot proves to be an effective gamified learning tool that supports interactive and engaging EFL instruction across multiple dimensions of student engagement.
