Strengthening students tolerant attitudes is crucial for school in a pluralistic society. This aims to ensure that students accept and respect religious diversity in their environment. Islamic Education teaacher are key to success in strengthening students tolerant attitudes. SDN Giyono Jumo Temanggung is a school in a pluralistic society. This research aims to determine the strategy of Islamic Education teacher in strengthening students tolerant attitudes in a pluralistic society and to determine the role of Islamic Eucation teacher in strengthening students tolerant attitudes in a pluralistic society.
This research is qualitative research. The research location is in SDN Giyono Jumo Temanggung. Data collection techniques are through interview, observation, and documentation. The validity of the data was tested using source and technical triangulation. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and then drawing conclusion. The research result show that 1) the strategies of Islaic Education teacher in strengthening students tolerant attitudes are individual, which include independent student assignments and self-quiz; as well as classical or group, which include Islamic Education learning in classroom, kultum (religious speech), Pesantren Ramadhan, and cellebration of religious holidays, 2) the role of Islamic Education teacher in strengthening students tolerant attitudes in a pluralistic society is demonstrated by the teacher as a religious educator, religious teacher, mentor, and role model.
