Abstract
This study investigates the pedagogical potential of interactive narrative games, specifically Life is Strange, as an effective tool for English language learning, addressing the contemporary need for more engaging and authentic second language acquisition methodologies. Employing a qualitative autoethnographic approach, the researcher actively engaged with the game, reflecting on personal learning experiences and analyzing linguistic interactions, particularly the impact of the butterfly effect mechanism on language comprehension. Key findings indicate that Life is Strange significantly enhances pragmatic awareness, provides extensive exposure to authentic English (including idioms and colloquialisms), and leverages emotional engagement to reinforce vocabulary retention and structural comprehension. The game's interactive nature intrinsically motivates active language processing and decision-making. In conclusion, this research asserts that narrative games offer substantial pedagogical value for English language education, prompting a call for their strategic integration into language curricula and encouraging game developers to incorporate educational elements into future game designs.
