Abstract
The purpose of the research is exploring the concept of Army in the Koran, i.e. theirs classifications, ranks, and roles. Slicing it through with content analysis that applies maudui as the method, the research is supposed to define patterns and clear concepts about army world. The research focuses on discussion about army mentioned in the Koran and how they perform among people in the prophet era.
Army in the Koran are mentioned as jund, ahzab, jam’an, and fi’ah. Each has their own emphasize. Jund is used for strong and organized army. While ahzab describe there is a weakness within union. Jam’an is used for those are at war. And fi’ah is used for group of army generally.
Arabian army’s are influenced by Roman Kingdom and Persian Kingdom. Army in the Prophet era are an informal job. People become one voluntarily and do not get paid. There was no dichotomy between civil and military back then. Army’s role was not only in the defense and security, but also social, economy, and anything else. They fought along Prophet building Islam Civilizations. The result of the research may become a reference for researchers and those are in the defense and military world.
