The purpose of the Qur'an is to spread the grace to the universe. Thus, the interpretation of it must also reflect that purpose. However, interpretation is often contradictory to it. One of them is seen in the interpretation of witness and interfaith marriages verses. The verses of witnesses are used to accuse Islam as a religion that supports discrimination. While the verses of interfaith marriage, used to accuse the Quran is full of contradictions. The Qur'an, because of these verses, is also accused of being an intolerant religion. From this problem, it needs a methodology that makes the Qur’an achieve its goals. This interpretation is known as maqasidic tafsir. This study was developed from two questions. First, what is the interpretation of the Qur'an based maqasid shariah? Secondly, how is the application of this method to interpret the verses of witnesses and interfaith marriages? These questions are answered using descriptiveanalysis methods. Descriptive data will be described as needed. While the object of research, which is the verses of witnesses and interfaith marriage, will be analyzed by the theory of maqasid shariah. The theory of maqasid shariah is quite diverse. The theory used as a basis for interpreting Al-Quran is the theory of maqasid shariah with system approach. There are six features used as the basis for interpreting the Quran, namely: the nature of cognition, wholeness, openness, interrelation-hierarchy, multidimensional, and purposefulness. These features are applied in five operational steps: identification of the verse, the identification of meaning, the exploration of the maqasid shariah, the contextualisation of meaning, and the conclusion. Research on witness verses shows that the presence of witnesses aims to protect one's rights. This goal corresponds to one of the visions of the Qur'an, upholding justice. While the study of interfaith marriage verses indicates that the provisions of the Qur'an in this problem, is in order to affirm the principle of religious freedom.
