Abstract

A language is a signal system which operates with symbolic vocal sound, and which is used by a group of people for the purpose of communication. By 1anguage, we can write a letter, an essay to express our idea and emotion. We also use a language to criticize poems and music. It seems impossible for people to communicate with others. In daily activities we also use language to enjoy the music. In this case, the lyrics of song contain phrasal verbs
This research aimed to analyze types of phrasal verbs which are used in Lewis Capaldi’s Song Album and to find a song that exposes the most phrasal verbs in Lewis Capaldi’s Song Album. This research explained about the types of phrasal verbs which are used in the song. This research used descriptive qualitative approach methodology as the research design. in the corpus of LC album specifically on phrasal verbs, in which all of them were contained in LC album as the primary data. The result of this research are: (1) the songs of Lewis Capaldi’s Song Album consists of three types of phrasal verbs. They are: Inseparable/Intransitive, Separable/Transitive and Inseparable/Transitive. In this research the writer has found 32 Inseparable/Intransitive phrasal verbs, 31 Separable/Transitive phrasal verbs and 4 phrasal verbs of Inseparable/Transitive phrasal verbs. (2) The song title that used the most phrasal verbs in Lewis Capaldi’s Song Album is Let It Roll.
