Abstract

This thesis concerns on teaching Descriptive Text Writing at Junior High School by using Basic Questioning Method. The main objective of this study are to know how basic questioning is effective to teach descriptive text writing to the Eight Grade students of MTs N Model Pemalang or not and to identify the significances of the effectiveness of basic questioning.
The hypothesis of this research is there is a significant difference students’ achievement between those taught using Basic Questioning Method and those taught without using Basic Questioning Method at the eighth grade of MTsN Model Pemalang in the academic year of 2013/ 2014.
This research is a quantitative research.The research design used is experimental design. The instrument used to collect the data in this research is test.The subject of this study is the eighth grade students of MTs N MODEL Pemalang in the academic year of 2013/ 2014.In taking the sample, the writer used quasi experimental with non equivalent. Class VIII.3 is chosen as experimental class who were taught Descriptive Text Writing by using Basic Questioning Method and class VIII.6 as control class who were not taught Descriptive Text Writing by using Basic Questioning Method.
The result of this research: the mean of writing test for experimental class taught by using basic questioning method is 69.63 and the mean of control class not taught by using basic questioning method is 61.63. The data show that there is significant difference of post-test score mean between experimental class and control class since the mean of the experimental class is higher than the control class. Besides, the test of hypothesis using t-test formula shows that the value of t-test is higher than the value of t-table; the value of t-test is 4.072 and the value of t-table is 1.66. The data indicate that the use of basic questioning method to writing on descriptive text is effective. Thus, the hypothesis is accepted.
