This study aims to analyze the English language needs of students in the Islamic Communication and Broadcasting department at UIN Walisongo Semarang, with a focus on speaking skills within the context of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through open and closed questionnaires distributed to students and semi-structured interviews with English lecturers. The findings show that English instruction in the department is not yet oriented toward ESP. Students recognize the importance of English-speaking skills in supporting their academic and professional careers. Students require English-speaking skills in professional contexts such as journalism, broadcasting, digital media, and multicultural communication. The main challenges include a lack of confidence, limited practical experience, and difficulty using Islamic terminology in English. Although the instruction is still based on General English, lecturers accommodate students’ needs by adapting the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum and integrating Islamic content.
