Disertasi ini merespon realitas keragaman penafsiran para mufasir atas ayat relasi suami-istri, yang ternyata dihadapkan pada dua tantangan berupa kecenderungan pemaknaan tunggal dan generalisasi stigma negatif terhadap para mufasir khususnya mufasir klasik. Fokus penelitian ini mengungkap bentuk dinamika penafsiran ayat relasi suami-istri abad 4-14 H, faktor yang melatarbelakangi dan urgensinya dalam pengembangan metodologi penafsiran Al-Qur’an kontemporer. Sebagai sebuah penelitian library research, objek material yang diteliti adalah penafsiran ayat relasi suami-istri dalam surah al-Baqarah: 187, 223 dan al-Nisā’: 34, dengan sumber primer sembilan belas kitab tafsir abad 4-14 H. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitik dan komparatif, dalam proses analisis menggunakan analisis historis, teori hermeneutika Gadamer dan teori uṣūl al-tafsīr. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dinamika penafsiran ayat relasi suami sebagai qawwām berupa perubahan total dengan nilai makna disfemia yang menunjukkan adanya empat pola relasi suami-istri, yaitu owner-property, head-complement, senior-junior partner dan equal partner. Dinamika ayat relasi istri sebagai ḥarṡun berupa perubahan generalisasi dengan nilai makna eufemia dan menunjukkan pola relasi suami-istri equal partner. Pada ayat relasi suami-istri sebagai libās dinamika penafsiran terlihat dari adanya perubahan spesialisasi dengan nilai makna eufemia dan menunjukkan pola relasi suami-istri equal partner dan romantic relationship. Dinamika penafsiran ayat relasi suami-istri dipengaruhi faktor internal (makna hakikat dan majaz, pokok pembahasan ayat dan susunan ayat dalam mushaf) dan faktor eksternal (sumber penafsiran, sikap terhadap riwayat, kecenderungan pemikiran dan konteks sosio-historis). Terdapat tiga urgensi dinamika penafsiran ayat relasi suami-istri dalam pengembangan metodologi tafsir kontemporer, yaitu dinamika penafsiran sebagai data historis, komplemen langkah-langkah penafsiran dan gagasan kontruksi tafsir historis-kritis.

Abstract
This study responds to the diversity of interpretations of the mufassir (exegetes) of the verses on husband-wife relations, which turned out to be faced with two challenges in the form of a tendency towards a single meaning and a generalization of negative stigma towards the mufassir, especially the classical ones. This study attempted to reveal the dynamic form of interpretation of the verses on husband-wife relations in the 4th-14th century of Hijri, its underlying factors, and its urgency in developing a methodology for interpreting the contemporary Qur'an. This study is library research with the material object of the interpretation of the verses on husband-wife relations in Surah al-Baqarah: 187, 223 and Surah al-Nisā': 34, with primary sources of nineteen books of Tafsir from the 4th-14th century of Hijri. This study applies descriptive-analytical and comparative methods. For analysis, it uses historical analysis, Gadamer's hermeneutic theory and the theory of uṣūl al-tafsīr. This study shows the dynamics of the interpretation of the verse on husband's relationship as qawwām three changes in interpretation include total changes with a dysphemic meaning value which shows the existence of four patterns of husband-wife relationship owner-property, head-complement, senior-junior partner and equal partner. In the verse on the wife's relationship as ḥarṡun, three changes are generalization changes with a euphemistic meaning value, and shows the relationship pattern between husband and wife as equal partners. In the verse on the husband-wife relationship as libās, three changes include changes in specialization with euphemistic meaning values and shows the pattern of husband-wife relationship as equal partners. The dynamics of interpretation of verses on husband-wife relations are influenced by internal factors (the meaning of the essence/haqiqa and metaphor/majaz, the main discussion of the verse and the arrangement of the verses in the mushaf) and external factors (sources of interpretation, attitudes towards history, tendencies of thought and socio-historical context). There are three urgencies of the dynamics of interpretation of verses on husband-wife relations in the development of contemporary interpretation methodology, namely the dynamics of interpretation as historical data, complements of interpretation steps, and ideas for the construction of historical-critical interpretation.
