Abstract

This study is based on students’ low participation and ability to translate the text.
The problem of this research can be stated as follow:
1. How does the implementation of change-pair technique minimize students’ common errors in Indonesian-English translation?
2. How effective is the use of change-pair technique in minimize students’ most common error in Indonesian-English translation?

Its purposes are:
1. To describe the implementation of change-pair technique to minimize students’ common errors in Indonesian-English translation.
2. To minimize students’ verb error in Indonesian-English translation on the use of change-pair technique.

This study is a classroom action research that was done in three cycles. To analyze the data, descriptive analysis is used. The result of the study is presented in the form of descriptive explanation. Data collection was done using observation, documentation and test.

The implementation of Change-Pair Technique in teaching translation at MTs. NU Nahdlatul Athfal Kudus was conducted in three cycles with four activities including the pre-cycle and the cycles. Result of the study shows that by using Change-Pair Technique in teaching translation at MTs. NU Nahdlatul Athfal Kudus, the students’ participation and translate the text course can be improved. It can be said that Change-Pair Technique is an effective way to improve students’ participation and translation.

The result of this study is expected to be an information material for many teachers especially English teachers in teaching translation so that they can facilitate students understanding on the material being delivered.
