The background of the study in this research is that the students feel nervous to speak English especially students’ activity in front of class because they are shy and not confident. This thesis is intended to answer the following research question: How high is the Effectiveness of using puppet show game to teach students’ speaking ability on describing someone?.The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using puppet show game to teach students’ speaking ability on describing someone. The design of this research is experimental study. The setting of this research is at MAN Gubug Grobogan in the academic year 2015/2016. The subject of this study was the tenth grade. The number of the subjects is 60 students from two-classes namely class A as experimental class and class B as control class. The technique of collecting data was gotten from observation, documentation, and test. The tests are pretest and posttest. In this research, the researcher can get result of taking pre-test and post-test. Average score of post-test for experimental class was 64.4000 while the average scores of pre-test was 50.800. Meanwhile, the average score of post-test for control class was 57.4667 while the students’ average score of pre-test was 48.267. It showed that the mean of experimental class was higher than control class (64.4000 > 57.4667). On the other hand, the test of hypothesis the ttable was1.671 by 5% alpha level of significance and dk = 30 + 30 -2 = 58. tvalue was higher than the critical value on the table (2.142 > 1.671). The hypothesis was accepted. The result of the research shows that there was a significant difference in students’ speaking ability on describing someone. That is between students who were taught by using puppet show game and students who were not taught by using puppet show game at the tenth grade of MAN Gubug Grobogan in the Academic Year of 2015/2016.
