Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the effectiveness of using Bingo game to teach English concrete noun and to find out the students’ respond to the use of Bingo game in the fourth grade students of SDN 1 Plawangan-Rembang.
The method of the research is experimental study. The data were obtained by giving test to the experiment class and control class after giving a different learning to both classes.
The number of the subjects was twenty in each class. They are IVB was as experimental class (the students who are taught using Bingo game), IVA was as control class (the students who are taught without using Bingo game).
The instruments used to collect the data were: test and questionnaire. Test was used to know students’ competence before and after the experiment run. There were two kinds of test, they were pre-test and post test. Before items of the test were given to the students, the writer gave tryout test to analyze validity, reliability difficulty and the discriminating power of each item. The questionnaire was used to know the students’ responses during research.
After the data were collected, the writer analyzed it. The first analysis data is from the beginning of control class and experimental class that is taken from the pre test value. It is the normality test and homogeneity test. It is used to know that two groups are normal distribution and have same variant. Another analysis data is from the ending of control class and experimental class. It is used to prove the truth of hypothesis that has been planned.
The result of this research: showed the mean of post of the experimental class is 75.00 (the students who taught using Bingo game), and the mean of post test of control class is 60.25 (the students who taught without using Bingo game). Using Bingo game is more effective than without Bingo game. It is showed the mean of experimental class is higher than control class (75.00 > 60.25). On the other hand, the test of hypothesis using t-test formula shows the value of the t-test is higher than the value of the t-table. The value of the t-test is 3.078, while the value of t-table on 5% is 2.09 (3,078 > 2.09). The hypothesis is accepted.
Based on the result of the study, the writer can conclude that the use of Bingo game is recommended for the English teacher for Elementary to attract the students’ interest and to improve their knowledge in learning English.
