Abstract
This research discuss about the effectiveness of using Two Stay Two Stray to teach writing of narrative text at eighth grade students of MTs N 02 Semarang in the academic year of 2015/2016. The background of the research was based on the learning process students’ difficulties in writing paragraph coherently. This research intended to answer the following research question; how effective is the use of Two Stay Two Stray to teach writing of narrative text at the eighth grade students of MTs N 02 Semarang in the academic year of 2015/2016.
Population of the research is eighth grade students of MTs N 02 Semarang in the academic year of 2015/2016. This was an experimental research. It is conducted into consideration classes, experimental class (Class A) and control class (Class B) which is chosen by purposive sampling technique. Experimental class is taught narrative text by Two Stay Two Stray while control class is taught conventionally.
Instrument of the research are test and documentation. There are pre-test and post-test to collect data. From the result of analysis of normality test and homogeneity test, it was known that both groups is normal distribution and have same variant. Another formula that use to analyze the data is t-test. It is used to determine whether there are a difference between average score of experimental and control class or not.
Based on the data obtained, it showed that pre-test average score of experimental group is 65.41 and control class is 65.91. Meanwhile, the post-test average of experimental class was 77.75 and control class is 75.91 Furthermore, it is obtained that obtained tcount 2.649, while T table 1.99897. Because tcount > ttable (2.649 > 1.99897). So Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted that there are difference of the post-test average score between experimental and control class.
Conclusion, Two Stay Two Stray is effective to teach writing of narrative text at the eighth grade students of MTs N 02 Semarang in the academic year of 2015/2016.
